FORMAT OF THE WORKSHOPS

Each workshop includes both spring and fall sessions and the published fee covers both sessions. All workshop sessions follow the themes of Dr. Edwin Friedman's book, Generation to Generation, with one day's small group sessions devoted to each of the minister's three interlocking families:

  • Church member families
  • The congregation as a family
  • The minister's own personal family (nuclear and extended)

Although workshop sessions include faculty presentations, major emphasis is placed upon the small groups in which participants present ministry case studies and work on  their genograms. Guided by a trained and experienced faculty, the overall emphasis in both group settings will be upon the practical integration of theory and practice.

All workshops include veteran attendees as well as first-time registrants. Experience teaches that new registrants ask the basic questions all participants need to continue to deal with - - and the mentoring and experience of the 'veterans' is a source of encouragement to 'first-timers'.
